Clean & Simple Palette

Time to decide on a color palette for the house....

I love mostly neutral walls; it allows my furniture, fabric, art and accessories to stand out and let the colors pop... and neutral walls will definitely keep things easy (and low budget) when I want to switch out colors or rearrange a few things (and I'm always doing that!).  With a neutral paint palette, the sky is the limit!

The taupe-y color on the family room walls right now is a little too dark for me... I want the walls in the main living areas to be a soft white, a white that will make the room feel warm, not cold and dreary (or worse, blinding).  To find the "right" white, I painted four swatches on the wall to compare the colors during different times of the day, see what they looked like with the blinds open, closed, lights on, off, and how the colors looked with the current trim (trim color is staying to save some $$ - husband is happy!).

swatch colors (left to right- Benjamin Moore's White Dove, Atrium, Floral White and Cloud White)

And whatdya know, the same color always wins -- White Dove!  Last year, I chose White Dove for most of the walls in our Virginia house and I absolutely loved, loved, loved it!  And now I'll love it all over again in the Texas house.

So, this week most of the walls in the house will get a clean coat of my favorite, White Dove from Benjamin Moore... it never fails me, I love it!

What's your favorite, never fail, "go to" paint color?

  1. You made some decent points there. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most individuals will go along with with your website.
