I'm sure several years down the road they'll enjoy looking back at their answers (or laughing at their answers), determining if they've met their goals, and most of all, reliving some of those special elementary memories!<br />

I created a simple kid's questionnaire and asked my kids to fill it out one morning. As we answered the questions, it turned into a morning of remembering the so many great times during this school year.<br />

Since I've last logged into this blog (about two years ago), there's been plenty of art created and furniture rearranged, but the most precious addition to our family, is a new baby! He's now scooting around with a huge smile on his face, and loving the attention he gets from morning to night. He might just be the cutest baby on the planet... yes, I might be a little biased.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Even though I'm not quite ready to start blogging on a regular basis just yet, I thought I'd sneak on here and share some recent photos while the baby is napping and the older three are outside playing "camping". These photos were snapped after the house was cleaned and the pillows were fluffed; my house does not look like this on a normal day. If you're coming over for dinner, it might, but stop by unannounced and mostly likely you'll walk through legos, and blocks, and school papers and books stacked on just about every table, dirty laundry in a pile, and folded laundry that has a hard time making it to the bedroom closets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's fun to look at these clean photos; I love a clean house! But as I'm going through this season of life I'm <i>trying</i> to embrace the messes and love life with these little ones who I've been called to raise. They're precious and much better than a clean and perfect house!</div>

The <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/07/spa-party.html" target="_blank">spa party</a> I hosted last week was definitely relaxing and if you're thinking about planning a party, I say GO FOR IT! To make planning easy, I have a few free printables for you below..... from invites to food labels, you'll be ready for a party.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Spa Invites</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hosted a <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/07/spa-party.html" target="_blank">Mary Kay spa party</a>, so I created one invite with Mary Kay noted on top and another blank spa invite. <i>Directions</i>: click the arrow below to download the pdf file or click the printer icon to print. Print on 8.5x11" heavy white/cream colored cardstock. Once printed, cut down the middle, both horizontal and vertical. Fill in the blanks with party specifics, place in <a href="https://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/color/A2-envelopes/2506.001/103.html" target="_blank">envelopes</a> (the fuchsia color matches the pink on the invites), then address and place in the mail. There are four invitations per sheet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieBym1d2tKZ-jPPsfNGMTpSOAjnXPpsXLEWq3EqWI5POAMohmAjOCB5qO3Zw7wXiNNQJrZ6VUEx3MyFXRSlafNryzA90xcbkOnILyL8UOZFY0aGGeyPpS_aFbi5MikktvPpLAzyukY4dVN/s1600/spa19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieBym1d2tKZ-jPPsfNGMTpSOAjnXPpsXLEWq3EqWI5POAMohmAjOCB5qO3Zw7wXiNNQJrZ6VUEx3MyFXRSlafNryzA90xcbkOnILyL8UOZFY0aGGeyPpS_aFbi5MikktvPpLAzyukY4dVN/s400/spa19.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<b style="text-align: left;">Food Labels & Party Labels</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I labeled our food and party supplies with these pink labels. <i>Directions</i>: click the arrow below to download the pdf file or click the printer icon below to print. Print on 8.5x11" white/cream colored cardstock, trim the edges, then fold in the middle to stand. Label with a food name, special instruction, etc. (If you don't have a program to add text to the label before printing, you could write on the label with a fancy marker or use lettered stamps to add info.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b style="text-align: left;">Nail Polish Sheet</b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I created a nail polish sheet to make it easier for guests to select a polish. Nail polish always looks a bit different in the bottle than on the nail, so I painted a quick swatch next to the name of the polish to help when choosing a color. <i>Directions</i>: click the arrow below to download the pdf file or click the printer icon below to print. Print on 8.5x11" white/cream colored cardstock, write nail polish names on the line, paint a small color of the polish in the square. Hang for guests to see.<br />
<br />

It was her first trip to Houston, so we explored a little around town and she experienced life in TX. We knew after a few days of busyness, we'd want to relax and pamper ourselves. Since she's a Mary Kay director with so many great products in stock, we thought making food, inviting friends and having a spa party (a Mary Kay spa party) would be the perfect end to a visit!<br />
<br />
I mailed invites and planned a party full of food, drinks and spa treatments.... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Great night.... I'm relaxed and had a fun time visiting with my sister!<br />
<br />
Later in the week, I'll make the spa invite, food labels and more available as a free download.<br />

With three little ones in the kitchen, I wanted to make something easy. No mess. Not much clean-up (well, as little clean-up as possible). We excitedly agreed on nachos. Nachos = happy kids! And I also found out, nachos = happy husband.<br />
<br />

<br />
These delicious nachos were so easy to make.... just a bunch of layers piled high. And, to make it even easier, I bought all the toppings already prepared, no chopping involved! (pre-cut vegetables are packaged in a container in the produce aisle at my local grocery store, I love it!)<br />
<br />
<i><b>Delicious Nachos Recipe</b></i> <br />
<br />
<b>Ingredients</b><br />
<ul>
<li>lightly salted tortilla chips, about a 14oz bag</li>
<li>pico de gallo (there is usually a variety... original, black bean, corn, mango, pineapple or a combination - I like to combine the original in mild, original in medium, and one made with a mixture of black beans and corn). For a full baking sheet piled high, I buy about 48oz.</li>
<li>1c green onions</li>
<li>2 tbsp cilantro</li>
<li>24oz cheddar cheese</li>
</ul>
<b> </b><br />
<b>Directions</b> (looks long, but it's not):<br />
<ul>
<li>preheat oven to 400 degrees </li>
<li>line baking sheet with aluminum foil</li>
<li>spread tortilla chips in a thin layer covering entire baking sheet</li>
<li>sprinkle thin layer of shredded cheddar cheese over chips</li>
<li>spoon about 12oz of pico de gallo mixture over cheese</li>
<li>sprinkle green onions over pico de gallo</li>
<li>sprinkle an extra-thin layer of shredded cheddar cheese over onions</li>
<li>add more chips</li>
<li>add thin layer of cheese</li>
<li>add more pico de gallo</li>
<li>a little bit of onions</li>
<li>little bit of cheese</li>
<li>more chips</li>
<li>more cheese </li>
<li>pico de gallo</li>
<li>some onions</li>
<li>cheese</li>
<li>chips again</li>
<li>lots of cheese</li>
<li>top with pico all over the top</li>
<li>sprinkle with cilantro</li>
<li> place baking sheet on middle rack in oven for about 15 min, until top cheese is golden brown and cheese in middle has warmed and melted</li>
<li>remove from oven </li>
</ul>
<br />

<br />
Serve immediately to hungry little ones and a happy husband! We add guacamole on the side (I bought our guac already made too, so convenient and <a href="http://www.heb.com/" target="_blank">HEB</a> has an awesome one that's pretty close to homemade). No forks involved, dig in! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You could also add sour cream, salsa, a squeeze of lime, chicken, beef, olives, sliced avocados or even more cheese! Who doesn't love more cheese! Yum!</div>

We don't have many weeks filled with heavy rain, so this weather is wonderful... and it's an excuse to stay indoors and get creative! The kids and I invited friends over to play and paint. I printed postcards and let the kids brush, swirl and flick paint all over the front of their postcards. Once the paint dried, we flipped the postcard over and wrote a short sentence, filled in the address and added a stamp. Tomorrow we'll drop it in the mail to send to far-away-family. It's a bonus for the grandparents.... a letter <i>and </i>a painting in one, a custom painted postcard!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPY0eJTlqfsyr7FBnsP1uvaiMTvM8VHFEG1hEvbCdtTcOiKaRgaiCtMwhZeEb_v-LDcMF1q3Bg1qzaRq3-8JKdeKTBmL3_rPEsIY4M8wxnscDdiSFsNjMaiEq9uyARUH4oZarvzJwqXFeK/s1600/postcard7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPY0eJTlqfsyr7FBnsP1uvaiMTvM8VHFEG1hEvbCdtTcOiKaRgaiCtMwhZeEb_v-LDcMF1q3Bg1qzaRq3-8JKdeKTBmL3_rPEsIY4M8wxnscDdiSFsNjMaiEq9uyARUH4oZarvzJwqXFeK/s400/postcard7.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We started with the blank postcard....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf2oRGKxXWgpfHcLF-cbvPE2PKrUpP0Si0VG1E4YftCBjopfXq5-olZJYM344ORam8T2vS-frzkDH7feg1r0B9nROi9l6JBjG3Dv_9hF2u-dwfVLGrpvg1nDPkW2I8xRTD1Asmqqm-ZX1P/s1600/postcard1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf2oRGKxXWgpfHcLF-cbvPE2PKrUpP0Si0VG1E4YftCBjopfXq5-olZJYM344ORam8T2vS-frzkDH7feg1r0B9nROi9l6JBjG3Dv_9hF2u-dwfVLGrpvg1nDPkW2I8xRTD1Asmqqm-ZX1P/s400/postcard1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
... then got out acrylic paint (I buy the <a href="http://www.plaidonline.com/folkart-acrylic-colors-2-oz/38/product.htm" target="_blank">Folk Art paint</a> in the 2oz bottles, they're available at just about every craft store. I like the thickness)....<br />

<br />
The kids had fun, so I think we'll be doing these again real soon... maybe next time we'll use watercolors paints!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a free printable postcard for your kids (or you) to paint, draw, color or even scribble to send to those you love. These postcards are available for your personal use for FREE.... download, print or just pass along the link: <a href="https://app.box.com/s/42c42cabb2d7af201984" target="_blank">postcards</a><br />
<br />
Print on 8.5x11" heavy-duty painting paper (I prefer <a href="http://www.strathmoreartist.com/product-reader/items/400-series-acrylic.html" target="_blank">acrylic paper</a> for mine, but my printer will only take <a href="http://www.strathmoreartist.com/product-reader/items/400-series-watercolor.html" target="_blank">water color paper</a>). Once printed, cut down the middle, both horizontal and vertical. There are four postcards per sheet.</div>

I've been busy having fun with the family celebrating some exciting events the last few months. We finished a successful year of homeschooling our oldest daughter thru kindergarten (yay!), then we traveled to the northeast part of the country to visit family, attend a beautiful wedding and celebrated my dad's 60th birthday.<br />
<br />
My sister, brother and I wanted to plan a special surprise for my dad since it was such a big year, a 60th birthday is definitely a time to celebrate! I saw a birthday idea on Pinterest from <a href="http://nothingbutbonfires.com/2011/06/sixty-years-memories" target="_blank">Nothing But Bonfires</a> to create a memory for each year.... so, we sent a note to family and friends of my dad asking for their help.... in the end, we compiled over 60 memories to honor my dad and present to him as we celebrated his 60th birthday.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
Family and friends emailed their favorite memory of my dad to me.... I printed the memories (so they all had the same heading), stuffed the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/90340133/25-a2-envelopes-pick-your-own-from" target="_blank">envelopes</a> sealed with <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/90340133/25-a2-envelopes-pick-your-own-from" target="_blank">circle stickers</a> and then stacked them in small <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/86086068/5-gift-boxes-in-choice-of-pool-or-red" target="_blank">boxes</a> tied with <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/item/Cherry-Red-Divine-Twine/658" target="_blank">bakers twine</a>....<br />

<br />
To present the memories, we planned a special evening at a AAA baseball game. We rented a suite for our family and our kids, then surprised my dad as he walked in. The surprise was a few weeks before his real birthday, so I think he was a bit shocked (and excited!). Now it was time to celebrate (and watch a baseball game)!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL-WZqCubb8OgWSIJCHi__bA1vB9ngwYdF3hSRDBpNX65QHt1SYMNxhVplmjiIoINCo8oqWLjfaQqG1Eo_4whAP0A1eUPjVTIBqTfoesmP9FFHGFgpn_p9_E0KIj7YpOg8K1OdlAq_OAmN/s1600/60thBirthday-3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL-WZqCubb8OgWSIJCHi__bA1vB9ngwYdF3hSRDBpNX65QHt1SYMNxhVplmjiIoINCo8oqWLjfaQqG1Eo_4whAP0A1eUPjVTIBqTfoesmP9FFHGFgpn_p9_E0KIj7YpOg8K1OdlAq_OAmN/s400/60thBirthday-3.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a> </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GZBeqs6rmo2EmPfq0reKQPmXmQIPzDsgPwa1q86gb0QAaoX1rtJe_7YmVy_5ivZdaLOAjGM-8d9GTUT49obk-rVr8_OJ1qkywC6aUH5_vzqw_upXrsWOqOgZZEzODfxTu4e17nwY4avK/s1600/60thBirthday-5.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GZBeqs6rmo2EmPfq0reKQPmXmQIPzDsgPwa1q86gb0QAaoX1rtJe_7YmVy_5ivZdaLOAjGM-8d9GTUT49obk-rVr8_OJ1qkywC6aUH5_vzqw_upXrsWOqOgZZEzODfxTu4e17nwY4avK/s400/60thBirthday-5.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a> </div>
<br />
In between all the game watching and eating, we surprised him with the memories.....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt0fCA-XsRn6kO5ujFuazc8W-jmQHy1EzTBryhaofKOyP7uMH1oD57DnWOYKwwpq4NBDJGNGeEYqpS3j_LtI41IbYVaT86ZJ1d3k50U37L3SuHUYU2LqGdA09AlZw0emSReMPrt9AGdI_F/s1600/60thBirthday-9.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt0fCA-XsRn6kO5ujFuazc8W-jmQHy1EzTBryhaofKOyP7uMH1oD57DnWOYKwwpq4NBDJGNGeEYqpS3j_LtI41IbYVaT86ZJ1d3k50U37L3SuHUYU2LqGdA09AlZw0emSReMPrt9AGdI_F/s400/60thBirthday-9.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As my dad read through memories, there were so many great times brought back to life, some heart-touching, some super hilarious. Lots of dare-devil stunts were mentioned, especially on four-wheelers and dirt bikes, and then of course over and over again we heard of my dad's humble heart and graciousness towards those he encounters.... <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVpjfrBnGw4lJKvEXp_mC6-1aKPxCSAejxkBF83i4HHlvWkM-cqWZ6LP1DktbQtS8pQxpKLTDqAmYxEacWMIROd1uKCxB6Mvys0-gcWYRtJJYrJZibPBWnJpOKy2pQXgnUULDR8Zn9N9ED/s1600/60thBirthday-4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVpjfrBnGw4lJKvEXp_mC6-1aKPxCSAejxkBF83i4HHlvWkM-cqWZ6LP1DktbQtS8pQxpKLTDqAmYxEacWMIROd1uKCxB6Mvys0-gcWYRtJJYrJZibPBWnJpOKy2pQXgnUULDR8Zn9N9ED/s400/60thBirthday-4.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we got a little camera crazy in between reading all the memories (the little ones took most of these photos!)....<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Here are the free printables:<br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/0d3342fb9b8a9e681698" target="_blank">Happy Birthday Banner - Red</a><br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/ead55dc9fa089c65ed25" target="_blank">Happy Birthday Banner - Blue</a><br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/03e289965c9645d40b25" target="_blank">Happy Birthday Banner - Pink</a><br />
<br />
Download the pdf file and print on 8.5x11" white/cream colored cardstock, trim along the dotted lines, then punch two small holes at the top of each card. Thread twine, yarn, string etc in and out of the holes to create a banner just like the photo "happy" above. Then hang the happy birthday banner and celebrate!</div>
<br />
Happy 60th Birthday Dad!!! We love you...<br />

This week, we hosted playgroup at our house, you know me.... I always like to throw a little art in the mix. So, I planned a watercolor painting party for the kids.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOv2zAzZrzDVa2U74LZEIoMSu__JZ8fxlnOnkpB1fv5XFfNRc5XE3xydRd8Od9TmTtpbWzY8Xr4zSKZkw5PKuI0jIo4hzhKgz_2UDGbGugzOfpzK5hESvTH5b9gRBI95T8IUbodJmWKspX/s400/paint9.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
I used the printable <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/10/free-printable-i-am-child-of-god.html" target="_blank">"I Am A Child Of God"</a> that I originally created as a coloring page. I changed the text outline color to gray and printed it on watercolor paper for the party.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXY3mT21z0VpoX1bN5KYit94mOwC0DoFsSH6FuoT1HSQzpVmhUGRBphCZRgQ6QZq-lb3EpKJuitAaOy7C8anp1lxayVuX_4z283KWtCR87ilGpVeh9wZWz76O2FwNF9Qh_eNuzoYU6rwrY/s400/paint2.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
Each child had their own paper printout and <a href="http://www.orientaltrading.com/watercolor-brushes-a2-56_2607-12-1.fltr?Ntt=watercolor" target="_blank">watercolor brushes</a>. I filled colored <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/item.php?item_id=113" target="_blank">polka dot cups</a> with <a href="http://www.orientaltrading.com/washable-liquid-watercolor-set-a2-56_16090-12-1.fltr?Ntt=watercolor" target="_blank">liquid watercolors</a> and wrote the color names on paper in front of the cup. Having the watercolors already mixed made it really easy for preschoolers and young elementary aged kids to paint (I mixed 1 part watercolor to 4 parts water and the colors were still vibrant!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFDw4XP0COqrVcm2WiTeH5ktG0oYMb-8fBPZfQb0EShFl8Gpi_4DRJfqxZ4ttk-uDx_u5vK-PptyTIe0FZxhE0qoTTXgNkvROe-efqumMI2aaDBu3qShS-xE9LwLBnXRTe9IWzTYJj65vI/s400/paint1.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>

<br />
In the end, we had a beautiful variety of artwork. This is my daughter's work, she recently learned about Jackson Pollock and applied his paint splatter technique. I'll be hanging more watercolor artwork in our house this week!<br />

Of course all little artists get hungry, so we had pretzels and water to refuel. I used more <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/item.php?item_id=113" target="_blank">polka dot cups</a> to hold the pretzels, rainbow colored <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/item/Rainbow-Stripey-Straw-Mix/320/c1" target="_blank">striped straws</a> to sip water and <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/84608240/circle-stickers-125-inches-you-pick" target="_blank">circle stickers</a> to label clear cups with everyone's name.<br />

A couple of friends and I hosted a double <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/04/baby-shower-yogurt-bar.html" target="_blank">baby shower</a> recently. For the shower, we placed a few simple ideas around the house to keep guests busy and talking.... I guess you could call them shower games... we chose these games because they ended with something tangible the moms could take home, use for the baby and most importantly serve as a reminder of all the love and support from friends and family.<br />
<br />
To go along with the ideas, I created several printables with helpful info and instructions. Of course they were also used to add a little color to the party. These baby shower printables are available for you to print and/or download. All free!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDopgwZUxBZbVEgRMvS9Ucvs-WJ9X5hjvRzupEYxZ7WmtxGk7LsOUOHDFCcIwShDO1ozwvdcj7Yl53uOVqZvbL5xiUxNxuTCt-xnP9YhiJdIacBVKF0dpnNzjSlBGG1MtJpKaYxhFJSzGq/s1600/babyshower.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDopgwZUxBZbVEgRMvS9Ucvs-WJ9X5hjvRzupEYxZ7WmtxGk7LsOUOHDFCcIwShDO1ozwvdcj7Yl53uOVqZvbL5xiUxNxuTCt-xnP9YhiJdIacBVKF0dpnNzjSlBGG1MtJpKaYxhFJSzGq/s400/babyshower.png" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Food Labels & Party Labels</b><br />
These cards were set in front of each bowl/plate on the <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/04/baby-shower-yogurt-bar.html" target="_blank">yogurt bar</a> and labeled with the food name. They were also set in front of the games with directions printed on the card. If you don't have a program to add text to the label before printing, you could write on the label with a fancy marker or use lettered stamps to add info.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Baby Wishes</b><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
The baby wish cards (or prayer cards) were stacked together and set beside a jar for guests to write their prayers for the baby. Each card had one of the following: I pray you learn, love, laugh, become or respect _____________. Once the guest filled in the blank, they dropped the card in the jar for the mom to take home.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Guess How Many</b><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Two glass jars were filled to the top with baby supplies.... one with cotton balls, the other with q-tips. We framed a sign enticing guests to play this guessing game where they filled in their guess of how many cotton balls and q-tips were in each jar. The guests closest to the correct numbers won a prize.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Tree Thumbprint</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We had a tree with bare branches and a Bible verse printed on cardstock paper..... guests pressed their finger on a colored ink pad, then placed their ink-filled-finger on the paper to resemble an image of a leaf. We later framed the tree for the mom to take home.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Name That Baby</b><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Lastly, we had hoped to play this game, unfortunately I didn't have enough baby pictures in time.... so I'm passing this one on to you! The game is simple. Hang baby pictures of everyone at the shower (clipped to a string, taped to posterboard, laid on a table, etc) and label them each with a different number. Place a sheet of paper listing all the names of the babies in the photos (in random order) for all to see. Then hand out the trimmed sheets below and let guests have fun guessing the names of each baby.<br />
<br />
The printables above are all available for your personal use, for FREE!<br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/dee283f965679a6f4bfd" target="_blank">Party & Food Labels</a><br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/9dc9ac38f7299abc4b52" target="_blank">Baby Wishes & Prayers</a><br />

<a href="https://app.box.com/s/b43b2bec049bc43857ea" target="_blank">Guess How Many Game Sign</a><br />

<a href="https://app.box.com/s/b1c8956d5171ff9f09e5" target="_blank">Sign-In Tree</a><br />
<br />
So, go ahead and download, print or just pass along the link. The instructions are simple.... print on 8.5x11" paper. For the labels, baby wishes and numbered guesses, cut along the lines to trim. For the guessing game sign and tree art, trim to fit an 8x10" frame. And for the name that baby game, cut in half both horizontally and vertically.</div>

The animal silhouettes were clipped to yarn with clothespins and to add a little more color to the clothespins, I used washi tape..... super easy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg59s7iiO3zw8SkbPY6JXf2rXaF69Tr8O5kKo2olo4Sl6b0iqttGIGmYtWuGD07GVlMVaNQa2hPEJw9YGHNcAwt0vUn4M8Sw5m1g4-0y9juFUXF8feQmMGRmP_Ozwtw78ekhcRq4ixmBhgV/s1600/washi2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg59s7iiO3zw8SkbPY6JXf2rXaF69Tr8O5kKo2olo4Sl6b0iqttGIGmYtWuGD07GVlMVaNQa2hPEJw9YGHNcAwt0vUn4M8Sw5m1g4-0y9juFUXF8feQmMGRmP_Ozwtw78ekhcRq4ixmBhgV/s400/washi2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used <a href="http://www.cutetape.com/shop/pink-grey-stripe-pattern-mt-masking-washi-tape-2.html" target="_blank">pink and white striped washi tape</a> to cover the front of the clothespins..... it took less than ten minutes to make. Here's how to cover clothespins with washi tape:<br />
<ul>
<li>Gather wooden clothespins</li>
<li>Cut or tear washi tape into pieces about 1/4" longer than the length of the clothespins</li>
<li>Place one piece of washi tape over a clothespin</li>
<li>Press down on the sides</li>
<li>Fold over on the ends</li>
<li>Done!</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Once the clothespins were done, I attached the silhouettes and clipped them to yarn across the mantel.<br />

<br />
I've also updated clothespins using scrapbook paper <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/03/colorful-clothespins-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> (for the <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/09/playroom-big-reveal.html" target="_blank">playroom</a>) and I'm sure there's plenty of more ways to spruce up clothespins. What's your favorite way to decorate clothespins?<br />

On Saturday, we were able to see all the planning come together, shower the mommies with love, a few gifts, and celebrate life!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM-PRmNL2RuFBshraaltZqb3ld0lKig_flqmpszk1Ux9pWM3Iq_C1jm360YiapvWkHXNg_5GakoU8Z51lUCNcEWSqeA_JaMF0Mr9JwUQh7rfVM5DGaXxhjp38B4LOyUVt4iK99vquoedC5/s1600/shower23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM-PRmNL2RuFBshraaltZqb3ld0lKig_flqmpszk1Ux9pWM3Iq_C1jm360YiapvWkHXNg_5GakoU8Z51lUCNcEWSqeA_JaMF0Mr9JwUQh7rfVM5DGaXxhjp38B4LOyUVt4iK99vquoedC5/s400/shower23.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
The baby shower was at my house and since the timing of the shower was between lunch and dinner, we decided to go with light, simple food..... a yogurt bar was the perfect solution! The yogurt bar included bowls of fruit and extra yummy toppings (we also added mini quiches and a dessert table).<br />
<br />
<b>Yogurt Bar</b><br />
<ul><li>vanilla yogurt </li>
<li>strawberries</li>
<li>blueberries</li>
<li>pineapple</li>
<li>raspberries</li>
<li>bananas (lightly coated with pineapple juice)</li>
<li>kiwi</li>
<li>chocolate syrup</li>
<li>caramel syrup</li>
<li>chocolate chips</li>
<li>mixed nuts</li>
<li>granola </li>
</ul><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5116/7100634599_437900e1ff_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
One mom's baby nursery is designed with animals and the other mom adores girly colors, so we agreed to decorate for the shower using animal silhouettes and a variety of pink colors. We spread tons of pink dots in several shades and sizes all over the yogurt bar (we used scrapbook paper and a circle craft punch to make the dots).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/6954565658_18d0ae5134_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5449/7100634717_ce9f01ce49_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7133/6954565700_459636747d_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7280/6954565704_0c88192d56_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
On the dessert table, we had chocolate covered pretzels and three cupcake flavors (I tasted them all, they were delicious!):<br />
<ul><li>Gingerbread<span class="il"></span> cupcakes with caramelized mango buttercream frosting</li>
<li>Nutella filled chocolate cupcakes with Nutella buttercream frosting</li>
<li>Nutella filled chocolate cupcakes with Nutella buttercream frosting (gluten free) </li>
</ul><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5192/7100634747_26249a4641_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
Hanging over all that sweetness were pink, white and gold balloons. Yarn was knotted on the end of each balloon and the opposite end of the string was taped to the ceiling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6954565578_3afe2377c0_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
We also added balloons in the living room, several balloons were bunched together (held by string) and hung from the ceiling light.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7275/7100634665_6903987a3c_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
A banner of animal silhouettes attached to yarn with clothespins covered in <a href="http://www.cutetape.com/shop/pink-grey-stripe-pattern-mt-masking-washi-tape-2.html" target="_blank">washi tape</a> was hung across the fireplace mantel (this is also where the two mommies sat while opening gifts).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7104/6954565500_ee6b019c1d_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7252/6954565508_ddbfc20a62_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
There were a few things around the house to keep guests busy and talking.... on the entry table was a place to sign the baby books and address envelopes (to make it easier for the moms when writing thank you cards).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7210/7100634589_356275496f_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5192/7100634569_0cd8158235_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
We also had a Bible verse and tree with bare branches printed on paper for each guest to stamp their thumbprint in an image of a leaf. We used green ink for this tree (sorry no after picture) and purple ink for the other mom's tree. This was later framed and given to the mommies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7036/6954565526_03a5d6ce1f_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
On another table, there was a guessing game.... how many q-tips and cotton balls?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5036/6954565486_7bc705695d_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7193/6954565468_aaeb69268f_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
One other activity we had for the guests was to complete a prayer card for each baby. There were slips of paper that read one of the following:<br />
<ul><li>I pray you learn to ___________________________</li>
<li>I pray you become ___________________________</li>
<li>I pray you respect ___________________________</li>
<li>I pray you love ___________________________</li>
</ul>The guests filled in the blank and dropped their prayer card into a jar that the mommy took home. The baby shower was a lot of fun and I know the moms were blessed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5348/7100634489_966e7b816a_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
Before each guest said goodbye, we handed them a thank you gift bag....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7232/6954565630_43cf2e193a_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5112/6954565602_82a0bee037_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
Inside the <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/item/Lovely-Stripes-Treat-Bags/68/c59" target="_blank">pink and white striped bag</a> was a bird feeder (I used <a href="http://www.hellobee.com/2012/02/23/toddler-craft-bird-feeders/" target="_blank">this</a> tutorial, just like for the <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/03/star-wars-birthday-party.html" target="_blank">Star Wars birthday party</a> and <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/04/free-printable-easter-gift-tags.html" target="_blank">Easter gift</a>). The gift bag was sealed with a reminder to pray for the mommies and babies each time they see their hanging bird feeder.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7262/6958459732_e32c74cf1c_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
I love baby showers... the planning and work definitely pays off when you see a mommy smile. And of course, I also love <i>after</i> the shower too because leftovers surround the house and my kitchen table holds these goodies (thanks Amber!)!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Party" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7220/7103672811_13ba48a865_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
If you love shopping for a party, here's a few of the shops where I found lovely supplies for this party (I am not paid to link their sites, I purchase my supplies for actual cost, I just honestly love their products and service): <a href="http://www.shopsweetlulu.com/" target="_blank">Sweet Lulu</a>, <a href="http://www.cutetape.com/" target="_blank">Cute Tape</a>, <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/PaperAndPresent" target="_blank">Paper & Present (on Etsy)</a>.<br />
<br />
And later this week (or next), I'll make several of the graphics I created for this baby shower available to you for free! Keep a lookout and enjoy your week! <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjpEZzkwm27jpWCs1C527USsSJ9iopJGp1TK43AzhOiq05P7pwn3MTRD8q0vRyfX1lrVzwoAS7zTKKLFQYozwUcGmPvs0jdzpM7_T9OIqjZAmZWcgIDo-v17IzFzyIc6RiA61531yzQ8Qa/s1600/cans2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjpEZzkwm27jpWCs1C527USsSJ9iopJGp1TK43AzhOiq05P7pwn3MTRD8q0vRyfX1lrVzwoAS7zTKKLFQYozwUcGmPvs0jdzpM7_T9OIqjZAmZWcgIDo-v17IzFzyIc6RiA61531yzQ8Qa/s400/cans2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The process was quick and easy. I removed the label from the soup can (if the label leaves behind stickiness, a little <a href="http://www.googone.com/" target="_blank">Goo Gone</a> always helps). I opened the soup can with a can opener that doesn't produce sharp edges (the <a href="http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/kuhn-rikon-can-opener/?pkey=e%7Ccan%2Bopener%7C8%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C8&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH%7C%7CNoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-Top_Wide_Agrarian%20-%20copy-_-" target="_blank">Kuhn Rikon</a> is my favorite), then saved the soup in a separate bowl and washed the inside of the can, let it dry and painted it.<br />
<br />
I spray painted the soup cans with <a href="http://www.krylon.com/products/brushed_metallic/" target="_blank">Krylon's Brushed Metallic</a> in champagne.... a few light coats covered the cans.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Flower Vase" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7224/6949082800_482772df5b_o.jpg" width="400" /></div><br />
Once the paint was dry, I clipped a variety of blooming pinkish colored flowers from my yard, filled the can with water and added the flowers to my new metallic vase.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="Flower Vase" height="400" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5452/7095169825_c9e4b01555_o.jpg" width="300" /></div><br />
A few vases are now spread out around my house in preparation for this weekend. Some friends and I are getting ready to host an exciting celebration on Saturday! Here's a glimpse....<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd4uLbwdka_9RqVy7lFa5Qff1AiQrcFLGHDxK9kQPto7RNTBIXemdKFarAPORJ-WSP3KWpsq-VcYLFXj5gUdtdI1BobVF2osarz3M4fDRRUiEd_uLZU58HhePIzK6ATPta2GIiVBsOLlB5/s1600/thanku1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd4uLbwdka_9RqVy7lFa5Qff1AiQrcFLGHDxK9kQPto7RNTBIXemdKFarAPORJ-WSP3KWpsq-VcYLFXj5gUdtdI1BobVF2osarz3M4fDRRUiEd_uLZU58HhePIzK6ATPta2GIiVBsOLlB5/s400/thanku1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I created Star Wars thank you cards to carry over the theme from his birthday party.... and of course everything ends with "May the force be with you"!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Thank You Card" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5231/6941938988_7a7c290b2b_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
The thank you cards are also available for your personal use for FREE! So go ahead.... download, print or just pass along the link... enjoy!<br />

<span style="text-align: center;">Click the link above to download the pdf file and print on white/cream colored 8.5x11" cardstock paper, then trim along the black lines to cut out each card. I used </span><a href="http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/A6-Black-Envelopes/2506.001/34302114.html" style="text-align: center;">black envelopes</a><span style="text-align: center;"> to hold the cards and wrote addresses in a gold marker. </span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1O_R2owKOBP0pmNpogec5UEGo9PDYp4do_1EF64pHTytC5j8n7iLOwDSP2dUoI846fHYAgnKI1by-hM8fgfzyye5IIeF9HhuBNh2L2eQUQMqW8SjtDyYFik0T-gV7kBM3Spy0HHblMO3q/s1600/husband2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1O_R2owKOBP0pmNpogec5UEGo9PDYp4do_1EF64pHTytC5j8n7iLOwDSP2dUoI846fHYAgnKI1by-hM8fgfzyye5IIeF9HhuBNh2L2eQUQMqW8SjtDyYFik0T-gV7kBM3Spy0HHblMO3q/s400/husband2.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>

Our friend's backyard is absolutely beautiful and on the drive home the husband and I were dreaming of how to turn our backyard into a vacation paradise (we'll begin by mowing the lawn). The kids swam again on Saturday (I love TX weather!), we went to an awesome church service and then ate at the kids favorite restaurant. On Sunday, we celebrated Jesus' resurrection with new friends, ate delicious food and had yet another Easter egg hunt with the kids (they're always up for more chocolate!). <br />
<br />
When our weekends are busy and what feels like non-stop-going, I want to make something quick and easy when Monday night dinner time rolls around. So, tonight we had egg sandwiches..... actually, we've had these A LOT lately. The husband and I love them, the kids love them, and the sandwiches are so, so easy to make (and super yummy!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhniP8hlOyB_0W0WwU_eV6bH8OUkIu4NceBVDxWyB4yWRNP22LKfGq-gTTzJn60f3MTMqaeOx1_0z3m6EAcxPDsHZuOdXXT7QeVSFN8CKEWM51lNpwZKa36eohr4U4ftfM53nXRV6OsMOj0/s1600/eggs2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhniP8hlOyB_0W0WwU_eV6bH8OUkIu4NceBVDxWyB4yWRNP22LKfGq-gTTzJn60f3MTMqaeOx1_0z3m6EAcxPDsHZuOdXXT7QeVSFN8CKEWM51lNpwZKa36eohr4U4ftfM53nXRV6OsMOj0/s400/eggs2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
To get the egg sandwiches ready, I made sunny side up eggs (just like my <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/02/valentine-breakfast-heart-eggs.html" target="_blank">heart-shaped eggs</a>, no need to flip). While the eggs were cooking, I sliced tomatoes, red onions and gathered some greens (tonight we used arugula and romaine, but I've also used kale, spinach, basil, even asparagus). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Egg Sandwich" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7135/6917027028_cae535d196_o.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
I then toasted the bread (we used flat bread/buns). Once the bread was warm and toasted, I spread mayo, then layered lettuce, tomato, onion, and topped it with a cooked egg. After sprinkling salt and pepper (and sometimes a little hot sauce), it was ready!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Egg Sandwich" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7197/7063108445_eda0c667c7_o.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Egg Sandwich" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7193/6917027076_527ff731ee_o.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
I used to top the egg sandwich with another slice of bread, but after watching my kids inhale three sandwiches (each!), I cut back and now we have open faced sandwiches- I gotta save where I can! Sometimes we'll fold the sandwich like a taco and eat, other times we just stuff it in our mouths, and sometimes we actually eat like civilized people and use a fork.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Egg Sandwich" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7046/6917027118_42a57f18e3_o.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
What's your favorite quick and easy meal?<br />

It's been a good week!<br />
<br />
One of the crafts the kids and I made was a bird feeder in the shape of an egg.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8IN6qSeoXBXZqnA5TXCdruka-VFailIChWmLBXTdydoLWJZjh_HGJi4KgYfAREueRRAKpWi_fy-7oypH69ZYLybo5m6smEfPnNaZVf_iHCOyE_eVzD1MZIDwTm1s50iEsg73T3zOlnl1Y/s1600/easter1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8IN6qSeoXBXZqnA5TXCdruka-VFailIChWmLBXTdydoLWJZjh_HGJi4KgYfAREueRRAKpWi_fy-7oypH69ZYLybo5m6smEfPnNaZVf_iHCOyE_eVzD1MZIDwTm1s50iEsg73T3zOlnl1Y/s400/easter1.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
We followed the bird feeder tutorial on <a href="http://www.hellobee.com/2012/02/23/toddler-craft-bird-feeders/" target="_blank">Hellobee</a>.... it was easy and fun! Once the feeders had dried, the kids and I packaged them to send to their far-away-cousins.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Easter Gift Tags" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5333/7043695721_8bb1805235_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I created the gift tags, both for the bag and the feeder... the bag tag says "happy easter" and the tag for the feeder says "feed the birds". The tags are available for your personal use, for FREE! So, go ahead.... download, print or just pass along the link... enjoy!<br />

He had more than a few favorite memories from the party.... attacking the Death Star pinata, eating Wookie cookies, searching for asteroids, stuffing his face with Palpatine pizza and of course all the lightsaber duals!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKzIaYMjCEvcQRAd60XirOiUu5Ks7G7i4biLjfFy5ldeHrTJ3DjyZeeDIOg0550GMNlBzhwVWzzpKYMLGnm8loz-1n4QvYzFI-OTc30k6TguM986nHjYtvJghm54ev7aiVjFUFo9pwyi0E/s1600/starwars21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKzIaYMjCEvcQRAd60XirOiUu5Ks7G7i4biLjfFy5ldeHrTJ3DjyZeeDIOg0550GMNlBzhwVWzzpKYMLGnm8loz-1n4QvYzFI-OTc30k6TguM986nHjYtvJghm54ev7aiVjFUFo9pwyi0E/s400/starwars21.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
To plan the birthday party, I searched the web (mostly <a href="http://pinterest.com/kristyarnold/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>) for Star Wars ideas and came across so many great sources.... there are plenty of creative minds out there! One site that lists several amazing ideas is <a href="http://www.party-ideas-by-a-pro.com/star-wars-birthday-party.html" target="_blank">Party Ideas by a Pro</a>. After pinning a few ideas, I created an invite and mailed it to friends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7122/6873516552_1205576ce2_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
Preparing for the party was a lot of fun. The kids helped during the week and I think it added to their excitement because they had a hand in cooking, making game pieces and setting up everything Star Wars. One of the things they helped with was hanging the Star Wars banner... it's available to print <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/03/free-printable-star-wars-birthday.html" target="_blank">here</a>, for free!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Happy Birthday" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7215/6857986042_eed0149c7a_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>
<br />
We also hung several blue balloons from the ceiling using black yarn and clear tape (a lot cheaper and easier than helium!). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6106/6870239544_f2f97059b7_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>
<br />

<br />
We chose to have the party around dinner time so families could come, celebrate and eat! We setup the food on the dining room table under the mound of balloons and the desserts on the buffet table. The kids and I sprinkled blue and black circles all over the table. <br />
<br />
<b>Star Wars Party Food</b><br />
The husband and I had fun creating food names, when we were stumped we borrowed other names found around the web.<br />
<ul>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I set out bowls of popcorn on a few other tables around the house (that black and white polka dot paper is wrapping paper that used a a table runner- it's taped in place).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6040/6870239862_3ea92477a6_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<b>Star Wars Games & Activities</b> <br />
We had a few activities and games to prepare the kids to be Jedi.<br />
<ul>
<li>ID Badge: when the kids arrived they each received an ID badge.... they colored Yoda, filled in their information, then strung the yarn through the holes and tied it around their neck to wear during the party. </li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7079/7019621701_4d745ea288_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7230/6882142698_9c34cb88c4_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>Light Sabers: all the kids made their own lightsaber out of <a checked_link="http://www.homedepot.com/buy/plumbing-pipe-insulation/armacell-1-in-x-6-ft-tubolit-self-seal-foam-pipe-insulation-186394.html" href="http://www.homedepot.com/buy/plumbing-pipe-insulation/armacell-1-in-x-6-ft-tubolit-self-seal-foam-pipe-insulation-186394.html" in_tag="ul" kaspersky_status="skipped" target="_blank">foam tubing</a> and duct tape. I wrapped silver duct tape around the top of the foam before everyone arrived, then the kids chose a color for their lightsaber - green, blue or purple (some combined them all) - and parents helped the kids wrap their light sabers.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Keep The Balloon In The Air: once all the kids finished designing their lightsabers, I gave them each a blown-up balloon. The kids had to keep the balloon in the air using their lightsabers. We played Star Wars music.... they loved it.</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7081/7018442305_9f4d571c7b_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>Asteroid Hunt: before the party, the kids and I rolled aluminum foil into tiny balls (about 1", 12 balls/child attending). During the party, I recruited two moms to hide the "asteroids" around the yard while I told the kids that asteroids have fallen on our house and their job was to search and collect all of them. They returned with full bags (and my yard was clean again!).</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6094/6870239980_db70e36d9d_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>Hot Death Star: unfortunately I don't have a picture, but we played a game similar to hot potato. We used a Death Star (instead of a potato) and played Star Wars music while the kids quickly tossed it around in a circle. For the Death Star, I wrapped a whiffle ball in aluminum foil and painted it black and gray.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Death Star Pinata: the kids and I worked on the pinata about two weeks before the party so it could dry and harden (glue, flour and candy seems to get my kids excited). I followed <a checked_link="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSvgdIOwJ4k" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSvgdIOwJ4k" in_tag="ul" kaspersky_status="skipped" target="_blank">this video</a> to make our pinata, but stop before she cuts feet for her pinata (we didn't make a duck), then paint it to look like a Death Star. Easy. We filled our pinata with candy, Star Wars stickers and yo-yos.</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7113/6873516588_e35bf5b828_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7214/6870240026_aae86416e9_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>

<img alt="Star Wars" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7267/7028373547_29cdba1e5f_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
We ate in between all the craziness of lightsabers and Death Stars, but before the kids left we made sure to hand them a thank you gift bag. The Star Wars gift included a bird feeder in the shape of a fighter plane inside a <a href="http://shopsweetlulu.com/item/Lovely-Stripes-Treat-Bags/68/c59" target="_blank">striped black and white bag</a> sealed with a tag that read "May The Force Be With You".<a href="http://shopsweetlulu.com/item/Lovely-Stripes-Treat-Bags/68/c59" target="_blank"></a><br />
<br />

<br />
I also created a certificate to give to all the little Jedi at the end of the party, but I completely forgot to hand them out. Oh well, maybe it's an excuse to throw another Star Wars party!<br />
<br />

Are you planning a Star Wars party for your little one? I created quite a few printables or this party and will be sharing them soon, all for free. I hope you have a great weekend!<br />

I do. I have a little man, well not so little anymore, who is about to turn five. We'll be celebrating his birthday this weekend with a few friends and to prepare, my house is being filled with a lot of blue, black and gold, light sabers, storm troopers and so many asteroids that I lost count.<br />
<br />
The first party decoration I hung was a Star Wars birthday banner strung across the mantel. It's also available for you to download and print (at the bottom of the post).... so simple, so easy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-nMyJV2UaI-ABDF9_ehSwYH6MYYFso5eqF8mmwuPLFma7o7uzEmgeULFR8hssKoKEHotnaWM6Ez9W67BKP470jKNbneWRvjd7EirDK4D4TFPXN3r4Za48kgDDXZY9o4SaiAak9uEx_3_6/s1600/banner7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-nMyJV2UaI-ABDF9_ehSwYH6MYYFso5eqF8mmwuPLFma7o7uzEmgeULFR8hssKoKEHotnaWM6Ez9W67BKP470jKNbneWRvjd7EirDK4D4TFPXN3r4Za48kgDDXZY9o4SaiAak9uEx_3_6/s400/banner7.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
To make the banner, I draped two rows of yarn across the mantel (clear tape holds it in place)....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7136/6858067092_1c289f4797_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6049/6857985842_d8a46489e2_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
.... then I made the design, printed the letters on white cardstock and cut out each circle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7088/6857986146_0ec964a544_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
I used a glue gun to attach the circle letters to the yarn (one dot of glue for each string of yarn). I began with the letters that were in the center of the banner and worked toward the ends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6223/6857985892_2bda4c0689_o.gif" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7036/6857985900_7874d5fde5_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7052/7004100765_743f86249f_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
Finally, all the letters were attached, but my banner looked a little bottom heavy....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7122/6857985916_b5a15c830f_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
....so, I adjusted the tape that held the yarn in place...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Banner" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7185/7004100833_6b0b447289_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
and voila.... perfect, kinda (I glued my letters a little lopsided, but it's one of a kind!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Happy Birthday" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7128/7004100871_c5412dece2_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>

<img alt="Happy Birthday" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6236/6857986012_c55afbb8c0_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>

After I recoup from little Yodas and Anakins running around my house this weekend, I'll post the details (and give away so many more Star Wars printables!). For now, the Star Wars birthday banner is available for your personal use for FREE! So go ahead.... download, print or just pass along the link... enjoy!<br />

Since <a href="http://theletteredcottage.net/spring-decorating-link-party/" target="_blank">The Lettered Cottage</a> is having a spring mantel link party this week, I thought it would be the perfect time to show the setup of my mantel and it's new sparkle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRdtygSdZLacRCVD6dudZnOCt25sx-xkCDkQqBG8uPiHNX-HDcThxhVgDLzHi6IxYkSj4cjcqj9gNfG9pNzaCDmhgNxiipMHG8f_FGBUh6ZTFxQcInIIFowvHEYHC68qKdE-V3b7TffWZ0/s1600/mantel4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRdtygSdZLacRCVD6dudZnOCt25sx-xkCDkQqBG8uPiHNX-HDcThxhVgDLzHi6IxYkSj4cjcqj9gNfG9pNzaCDmhgNxiipMHG8f_FGBUh6ZTFxQcInIIFowvHEYHC68qKdE-V3b7TffWZ0/s400/mantel4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Remember the <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/04/creamy-colored-candlesticks-or.html" target="_blank">candlesticks</a> from last year? Well, two of them got a quick update with a little <a href="http://www.amaco.com/shop/product-437-rub-39-n-buff-metallic-finishes.html" target="_blank">Rub 'n Buff</a> (I buy mine at Hobby Lobby). I changed the candlestick color from cream to antique gold.... Rub 'n Buff makes updating things around the house so easy, literally rub and buff. Such a quick and simple update. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Mantel" height="400" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6119/6852437628_6df32b7b46_o.jpg" width="300" /></div>
<br />
Once the candlesticks had dried (less than an hour), I placed them on the mantel and put a pink sparkly egg in each holder... a perfect fit!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Mantel" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7247/6998560967_accbf55553_o.jpg" width="300" /></div>
<br />
I created the large pink painting <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/05/golden-mantel.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2011/05/art-on-mantel.html" target="_blank">here</a>, added a white ceramic bird (from Target), and clipped a large branch from a tree in my backyard and placed it in an old apple juice glass jar. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Mantel" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7073/6852437664_21c8c17afd_o.jpg" width="300" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Mantel" height="400" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6059/6998561017_81441fdf44_o.jpg" width="300" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Mantel" height="300" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6094/6852437764_d4994561f6_o.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
That completes the mantel for now..... later this week I'll be adding one more temporary decoration. If you have a little man in your life who enjoys Star Wars, you'll really want to come back and check it out :)<br />
<br />
I hope you're enjoying spring-like weather!<br />

Actually, what I call a mudroom is so, so tiny that I don't even know if I can really call it a mudroom, but we store a few on-the-go-items here, so it's our mini mudroom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6987795207/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Kitchen Table by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Kitchen Table" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6987795207_045572ba18_o.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
It was about a year ago that I last talked about the kitchen table and mini mudroom (ha- where has the time gone).... this is what it looked like last year....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/5529506469/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Entry by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Entry" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5140/5529506469_d1ddb180ff_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And now.... progress (after a year!)....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6987795133/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Entry Way by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Entry Way" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7180/6987795133_d92a21bab6_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I added zebra print seat cushions to the wooden chairs and recovered the black ottoman with <a href="http://store.fabriccarolina.com/Items/MG%20Allie%20Pink" target="_blank">pink alligator faux fabric</a>. The ottoman has been moved from the wall to the table for use as another seat and storage.... the kids and I keep our everyday shoes inside (the husbands are kept in the <a href="http://libbiegrove.blogspot.com/2012/02/closet-organization.html" target="_blank">black closet</a>). I only <i>wish</i> the inside of our ottoman looked this neat everyday!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6841672748/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Shoes by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Shoes" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7186/6841672748_a25d35ae07_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
On the small wall next to the back door, I added a painted pink chair (<a href="http://www.benjaminmoore.ca/en-ca/paint-color/royalfuchsia" target="_blank">Royal Fuchsia</a> by Benjamin Moore) and covered the seat with a wide black and cream striped outdoor fabric from <a href="http://www.tonicliving.com/" target="_blank">Tonic Living</a> (the fabric in the frame is also from Tonic Living, <a href="http://tonicliving.com/productsDetails.asp?categoryid=27&productid=2152&currentpage=1&onsale=0" target="_blank">Theo</a>).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6841672696/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Entry Way by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Entry Way" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7192/6841672696_7d45ef0954_o.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6987795153/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Entry Way by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Entry Way" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7056/6987795153_df17ef937d_o.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
The setup has been working well so far! I'll leave you with a picture of the freshness sitting on my kitchen table.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbiegrovedesign/6987795121/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Table by Libbie Grove Design, on Flickr"><img alt="Table" height="300" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7060/6987795121_29c84a6d8f_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Enjoy your weekend (I'll be watching the NCAA tournament and hoping my brackets finish strong!).<br />

Last weekend, several friends and I got together to play the game, have a drink, eat sweets and enjoy great (and uninterrupted) conversation! We had a blast.... I'm not sure if it was the game itself or more of the social aspect, but either way I'm sure we'll be playing Bunco again real soon.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Bunco" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7066/6980320101_b5166bc360_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /> </div>
<br />
This was my first time playing and hosting a Bunco party.... so, I needed a few supplies. I bought dice and a few cute pencils, cut scrap pieces of paper (for adding scores), then created score sheets and table number cards.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Bunco" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7064/6834191938_83598db47e_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Bunco" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7064/6980320131_5b574714da_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Bunco" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/6834191966_4d2574cf79_o.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></div>
<br />
The game is all about rolling dice and socializing with the people around.... no strategy, no planning, no thinking required! The game encourages movement from table to table and switching partners, so it's a great way to talk with everyone at the party and also a great way to meet new friends.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Bunco" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7050/6980320193_860b05190b_o.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
There are several different ways to play Bunco and many directions posted online (google Bunco directions). And if you're looking for score sheets or table numbers, I've made mine available to you for FREE! Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/1e151bbd750ca4421df5" target="_blank">Bunco Score Sheets</a><br />
<a href="https://app.box.com/s/d4d5598c21158f9e91f6" target="_blank">Bunco Tables Numbers</a><br />
<br />
Click the links above to download the pdf file, then print on 8.5x11" white/cream card stock and trim the edges. For the score cards, cut down the middle both horizontally and vertically (the sheet makes four cards). For the table numbers, cut down the middle vertically and fold each card in half so the number appears on both sides, then trim the bottom edge. </div>
<br />
Now you're ready... buy some dice and throw a Bunco party!<br />

Last week we worked on the letter "B", so she's been coloring the B pages with markers or crayons, making designs with stamps, putting stickers on the letter and even cutting it out. She enjoys having her own work and it keeps her occupied while I work with the older kids!<br />
