Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

My shoe addiction continues!!!

My sister had her sweet baby girl last week and we are beyond thrilled to welcome her into our family!  As I was searching for baby gifts, I stumbled upon an amazing designer, Jessica Hayley from Joyfolie (and she's here in Houston... yay!).  She designs shoes..... mostly kid's shoes and they are the cutest!  Ever!  Since I couldn't stop flipping through her designs, I thought I'd share my finds.....

Adorable, huh?  Joyfolie even makes women's shoes!  I think I'll be saving my money to order more than one pair!

Stripes

After I posted about my new striped Toms, I got to thinking about clothes I've bought lately..... they all have stripes.... like these pants....

I seem to be in a stripey-kind-of-phase so here's a few striped rooms I love...

Shoes, Grass & Plants

We're slowly getting settled back into our summer routine after a month-long trip up the east coast, vacationing and visiting family and friends.  While traveling, I picked up a cute, cute pair of Toms.... so comfy, so cushion-y (and of course I love the fact that with every pair purchased, Toms will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need)....

Toms

I love that picture with my brown and white striped Toms against the lush, bright green grass.... or maybe I'm just a little overly excited that our grass survived the beginning heat of summer here in TX while we were away!

I wish I could say the same for some of my plants :(

Plant

Not all of my plants look like this, but most?  Yes!  I am so far from master gardener, uh... I mean so far from beginner gardener.... I have so much to learn!  Any tips on plant care while living in a hot and humid climate?  Do you have any plants that'll thrive on their own... ya know, in case I forget the watering part?

Movin' Up the Coast

We've been slowly moving up the coast.... not moving as in 'packing up our stuff and moving into a new house (again)', we're just traveling along the east coast visiting family.  Our first stop was in North Carolina to vacation at the beach with some friends (our annual beach crew) and now we're further north visiting family in Pennsylvania and New York.... burrr, it's cold up here :)

I never, ever thought I would say this in mid-June (especially since I grew up in Rochester, NY), but it's time to pack away the beach clothes and pull out something a little warmer.  I think I've already become accustomed to the heat of Texas.... I need a sweater up here...  go ahead, call me crazy, but I need a little something like this to keep warm...

Summer

Hope your week is off to a warm start!

Vacation Craving

It's mid-May and I'm already thinking about summer vacation... our trip to the beach has been booked and we're counting down the days til we step foot in the sand.  We're actually calling our trip 'the east coast tour' since after vacationing with our annual beach crew, we'll travel from NC to NY, making a few stops along the way to visit family.

When I think about vacation and packing for the trip, my first instinct is to do a little shopping.  Then I remember.... I'm on a budget.  So, I'm window shopping today.... thinking any of these outfits would be a perfect fit in my soon-to-be-packed-bag....

Around the House

While we're at the beach, hangin' around the house.... relaxing, swimming, cooking, and of course eating... that dress would make a great swimsuit cover-up or be completely comfortable to relax in while sitting on the porch watching waves, or even taking the kids for a walk down the street to buy some homemade ice cream (yum!).  Oh, and that funky head-wrap would help control my curly mane... while at the beach I'm all about skipping out on hair time.
Beach
1. Elephant Ears Maillot  2. Seafolly Bag  3. Sunglasses  4. Reef Jet Setter

That swimsuit would be perfect for playing with the kids in the sand or jumping in the waves.  And the bag?  Well, who could pass up an over-sized pink bag to hold beach towels and all the kid's stuff?  Yeah, me neither!

Beach

And of course a new outfit for date night with the husband would be nice.... that dress could be casual for day or dressed up at night, perfect (and the price? $44... now that might fit the budget!!!).

I'm off to pack..... and contain my urge to shop!

The Rodeo & Some Boots

The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is in full swing and will continue until just about the end of March.  We'll be headed to Reliant Stadium this month to see all the action and I thought it was only appropriate to order myself some boots (plus the husband promised me boots at Christmas)!

Look what arrived on my doorstep this week (I absolutely LOVE the way orders from Piperlime come packaged -- box, tissue paper, sticker, I love it all)...

Just what I ordered.... my first real pair of boots, with a little Southern style...

I'm a Northerner at heart so when I look down at my feet, I'm still in awe that I'm living in TX, saying y'all, and now wearing boots (that kinda resemble cowgirl).  Over the past twelve years I think I've been slowly turning into a Southerner (and loving every minute!).

Perfect boots for a rodeo...

By the way, don't you love that gilded mirror?  I brought it home this morning from Home Goods... it's going in the living room... and will be my first full length mirror since I've been married -- can you believe that?  I'll post pictures of the living room progress soon.

Have a great weekend... y'all!!!

New Years Eve: Texas Style

We'll be celebrating the end of a great (and busy) year tonight.... this celebration will be Texas style.  We only recently moved to the great state of TX, so we'll probably just add some salsa and Texas shaped chips to the mix, but we have plenty of reasons to be thankful.  Most recently, a successful move from VA to TX with 3 precious, little ones.  We have much planned for the new year as we settle into TX and look forward to all the adventures in store for our family.  Now, I'm off to get these cowgirl feet tappin'.... Happy New Year!
