Living Room Layout

The husband gave me a surprise......

Gift

I love surprises, especially ones like this!!!  I'd like more furniture in the living room so there's extra seating (and to fill the empty space).  So with cash back money, my Discover Card will be "buying" me furniture!!!  Woohoo!!!

Here's a full view of the living room (and the empty space)....

To help figure out what furniture would be a good fit for the room, I decided to draw a layout of the room and add different pieces of furniture.  First, the current layout of the room.....

....and now a few arrangements with more seating.... maybe two sofa chairs, a side table and an ottoman?

Or maybe I should move the couch and make a completely different arrangement.... hmmmm, so many options!  Which arrangement is your favorite?  What type of seating would you add to the room?

To Bunk or Not to Bunk: Part 3

If you just joined us, welcome!  I'm in the process of deciding which bedroom in the new house will be for the girls.  Two possible layouts were planned here using the girls furniture for bedroom #1, one with two twin beds and one with a bunk bed.  Then I found a few rooms here designed with bunk beds to help inspire some ideas (if we go the bunk bed route).

Now, on to bedroom #2.... here's a possible furniture layout using both twin beds.

I like the simplicity of the side by side twin beds... they both fit so perfect along the blank wall.  Definitely a possibility....

Which layout is your favorite?

To Bunk or Not to Bunk: Part 1

I haven't decided which room the girls (ages five and almost two) will share, but each bedroom in the new house is a little smaller than what we have now.  The new size, about 10x11 ft, provides just enough room for furniture and sleeping.  I still want the girls to have some space to dance around dressed as little princesses waving their wands, so I need to be pretty selective about the furniture that will go in their new room.

If I use bedroom #1, there is limited wall space for furniture because of the window, and the closet, bathroom and entry door placement.  The girls sleep in twin beds right now and using the possible furniture layout below, their space would be tight and cramped, especially once the rest of their "stuff" is moved in the room.

Those beds are way too close together... less than a 12" of space (yikes!)...

BUT... a bunk bed could be the solution if I decide to use bedroom #1.  Bunking up would give the girls so much more space for dancing, tea parties, pushing strollers, coloring, and even room for a sleepover...

Now it's time to search for some girly bunk bed designs (and find out how much these things cost!).
