Sofa Chair Ideas

Early last week, the husband gave me a sweet gift..... extra seating for our living room!!!  He knows exactly what I want :).  I came up with a few layouts to help me decide what type of seating would be the best addition and I think I'm leaning toward purchasing one sofa chair and a bench seat (either one large or two small benches).  And, if enough money is leftover, then also adding an ottoman and side table.

These are a few sofa chair styles that I like.... unfortunately, my taste exceeds my budget.  So, I'll be searching for a second-hand or super discounted find that has a similar look to any of these...

Just like I need to take cost into consideration, I also want the husband to like the chair.... like it so much that he'll actually sit and relax in it!  We tend to have different tastes in furniture (my first instinct is the look and style, his is comfort), so when we shop for chairs, this is his first choice....

I'm sure it's as comfortable as can be, but I want comfort AND a little more style, so maybe we can agree on something like this recliner (only upholstered in a different fabric)....

I just wish it was less expensive.  Where do you go to find quality, comfortable, stylish furniture when you have a limited budget?

  1. I like to shop clearance - either the actual store website clearance or clearance stores like Unclaimed Freight. It's hit or miss, but it's worth a shot. I'm looking for a sofa chair, too, so I'm excited to see what you find. I have the same dilemma of style vs comfort.

  4. I've never been into an Unclaimed Freight store.... wishing there was one around here to check out! Or wishing I lived closer to Hickory :) That would make furniture fun!!! I'll be checking out Home Goods and TJ Maxx this week!!!

  5. Don't forgot to try Marshalls too !
Sometimes a consignment store might have something rare or check out the paper for estate sales. You never know if someone is getting rid of something you would like.

  6. Planning out how you want to place your furniture in each room seems to be a good idea before you start shopping. Thanks for your advice.

  7. When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks!

  11. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
