I bought a doormat made by Dwell Studio earlier this week (I LOVE their designs, especially their sister collection for Target). I figure since we have a new house it would be nice to have a new welcome mat too. One of the main colors inside our house is green-ish/blue, seen here, so when I saw this mat sticking out from behind another in the rug aisle at Target, I was ecstatic... the perfect colors, kinda...
I'm a HUGE fan of the green-ish/blue and tan colors, but the brown? Mmmm, not so much. I've always been in love with black and my house shows it... there's black accents all over the place... picture frames, curtain rods, fabric, furniture... the list goes on. So I decided to do a little touch-up. Paint black over brown... can you start to see it?
I used a simple, small angled brush and black paint that I've used for other projects (I would have even used a small 2oz bottle of black craft paint available at most craft stores)...
I dipped the brush in the paint, just enough to lightly coat the brush, then I positioned the brush on the rug to line up on the edge of the design, brushed toward the center and then kinda jabbed the brush bristles in between the carpet to the make sure the inside was black too...
And here's the outcome... a perfect match!
Welcome to our house!!!
Looks great Kristy, keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteThanks... it's always fun to add a personal touch to anything store-bought :)
