Now that the furniture and bedding are complete in my son's bedroom, it's time to add accessories and art on the walls. I started with the blank wall space above his twin bed... I had a few ideas of things to hang, but when I held different items above the bed they didn't seem to look just right. Then John and Sherry of Young House Love posted their wall gallery...
L-O-V-E.... after starring at this photo for-like-ever, I knew what my blank wall needed... a gallery. I've been wanting to create a gallery somewhere in our new house with all these frames and the wall above the bed would be the perfect spot.
First, I measured the wall space where I wanted the frames to be grouped, then I arranged and rearranged a layout on the floor that fit the measured space (I ignored the frame color or what was inside the frame, that could all be changed later), then I grabbed the nails and hammer and got to work...
I'm sure you noticed a few frames go up, then down or moved around... when I hang frames on the wall, sometimes I adjust the look as I go so I get it "just right" (the wall angle on the top right made me rethink the right side of the gallery and I started moving frames higher and toward the middle). After all the frames were hung, a few received a paint job and plenty received a new look on the inside -- photos, artwork, stickers, scrapbook paper, images, text, etc. Here's the final look...
L-O-V-E, absolute love!
Beautiful!! I did something similar in my bedroom too! SO eclectic!

I love this!!! Did you measure between the frames or did you just go for it?
ReplyDeleteFor a look so random as this, I grab the hammer and go (I don't have much patience with a tape measure). In the end it's imperfectly perfect! If I was hanging a gallery of frames lined in a grid, then I would reluctantly get out the tape measure.... I'd take the time to measure for a grid-type layout bc it would drive me nuts if one (or a few) frames weren't spaced equally :)
ReplyDeleteI’d have to check with you here. Which is not something I usually do! I enjoy reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!
