Brownie Strawberry Trifle Recipe

The husband and I had a get-together with some friends for dinner over the weekend... I decided to bring dessert, a dessert that I grew up eating at family parties.  I don't think there's much that goes together better than brownies and strawberries (like this delicious dish our neighbors brought us after our move).  So I gathered a few ingredients (with the kids help) and whipped up a little something like this...

Strawberry

It's a whole lot of brownie chunks, strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings.... probably one of the most simplest desserts to make and it looks so glamorous... don't you think?  Here's the recipe so you can enjoy this yumminess in your house:

INGREDIENTS

Brownies
Cut brownies into small-bite-size squares (take your pick- homemade brownies, boxed brownies or even store-bought brownies).  I baked one box of Ghiradelli's dark chocolate brownie mix in a 9x12 metal baking pan.

Dessert

Strawberries
Wash four pounds of strawberries, then remove stems and quarter lengthwise.

Dessert

Dessert

Whipped Cream
3 cups of heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup of sugar
3 tbsp of vanilla

Combine heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl fitted for an electric mixer, beat on high speed with a whisk attachment until soft peaks form, about 5 minutes.

Dessert

Dessert

Chocolate
Shave curls from a refrigerated block of chocolate (dark or milk, doesn't matter).

Dessert

Once the ingredients are ready (and brownies are cooled), you can start to layer.... brownies, strawberries, whipped cream, brownies, strawberries, whipped cream.

Dessert

I piled the yumminess three layers high in a glass trifle bowl and ended with a whipped cream layer.  Then I sprinkled the chocolate shavings on top.  Delicious!!!
