A Kitchen & Playroom Table

We purchased our home back in December and moved in a few weeks ago... as soon as we signed on that dotted line, I've been planning the style, colors, furniture placement, etc., for the house. And, of course there's little (and some big) purchases that I think would be great additions... one being a table for the kid's playroom (you can see my playroom wish-list here and playroom progress here, and here).

I've been searching Craigslist for these "great additions" and the other day a set of table and chairs were listed, for $80!  They were originally from Ikea (retail is $40 per chair and $300 for the table) and looked pretty good from the pictures and looked even better in person, so they were loaded up and brought to my house for the playroom... or so I thought.  Here's where they ended up... the kitchen...

The husband loved the look and the size of the expandable table.  The table seats 6, but I bet it could seat 8 (or more, we like to get cozy!).  As for me, I wanted to keep the husband happy (since he allows me to be on a decorating quest what sometimes seems like days on end) so I agreed to keep the table in the kitchen instead of moving it to the playroom.  I'm actually kinda glad the husband persuaded me to keep it in kitchen, it's growing on me in this little spot, but it's waaay to matchy-matchy for me, so I'll be getting out my purdy and a can of paint real soon.

You might be wondering what was originally in this table's spot or what I now plan do for a playroom table... so, I'll back up a little.  Here's what the breakfast nook looked like after we moved in...

And now with the new table....

I have a long history with the jacobean stained table that we first had in the breakfast nook (much too long, it will need another post).  So, we will not part with this table, instead it will have a new home... the playroom...

This table is going to need some adjusting... those teeny, tiny chairs are much too short, or the table is much too tall.  So, another table project awaits.

I think the kitchen table can wait, I'll be working on the playroom this week... stay tuned for progress!!!

  1. There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article, thanks and we want more! Added to FeedBurner as well
